Graduate teams work with ocean-sector mentors to identify real challenges, interview stakeholders, and build a working prototype — hardware or software.

Students build, calibrate, and deploy a surface drifter. They join a research cruise on the R/V Sproul, collect real oceanographic data, and analyze it in MATLAB or Python.

MS and PhD students design, program, and deploy autonomous ocean vehicles — AUVs and ASVs — executing real mission planning and field operations in ocean environments.
