COASTAL OBSERVING RESEARCH
& DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The Coastal Observing Research & Development Center develops advanced technologies for basic and applied ocean science. As a sea-going research group, we focus on scientific discovery and technology development, working closely with local, state, and federal agencies as well as industry partners. The center is part of the Marine Physical Laboratory within Scripps Institution of Oceanography, supporting research aligned with national security interests.
We specialize in robotic systems, sensors, autonomy, and data analytics. Our team has led complex field measurement programs around the world, deploying expeditionary sensor platforms and maintaining global data networks. Educational opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers are offered through hands-on involvement in R&D projects. We participate in the Applied Ocean Science Graduate Program. If you are interested in learning more about our research and technology, please contact us.
